NIXY Landing Mat Review

Anyone who owns an inflatable SUP knows how difficult it can be to keep the board clean while rolling it up after use and storing it inside the backpack.

I always bring an old towel along with me to dry the board as I roll it up. However the board usually still collects dirt, sand, leaves or gravel depending on where I am.

If the ground happens to be wet and muddy you can forget keeping your SUP clean when inflating or deflating it.

That is where the NIXY Landing Mat comes in so handy. This nylon mat allows you to place your paddle board on top of it when inflating as well as deflating the board after use.

The mat is large enough to not only fit the board but also any gear you would like to keep clean as well.

After use the mat stores inside a small portable carrying bag that I found to conveniently fit inside my ISUP backpack.

WATER RESISTANT & SAND PROOF

Made with 100% RipStop nylon this mat is water resistant as well as sand proof. It feels very lightweight yet ultra durable.

I found that nothing really stuck to it at all. Any sand, dirt, gravel or water drops just rolled right off.

Living in Vancouver, BC I am very used to wet soggy conditions. It is not unusual for my board to get quite mucky during set up and especially after use when deflating and putting it away.

This mat is extremely effective at keeping my board (and all accessories) free from harmful debris and makes the whole clean up process a lot easier.

In fact it is so effective I wish I had thought of this kind of solution earlier.

After use I just shook it off, folded it up and stored it back inside the small carry bag.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL

I think this mat would also be ideal to take along on your stand up paddle board with you if you plan to dock somewhere on shore and hang out for a bit.

It easily doubles as a nice mat for sitting down and can comfortably sit 4-6 people.  It’s ideal for a picnic lunch or chilling out along any type of shoreline.

If you like camping I think it’s a must have.  Perfect for all kinds of outdoor situations.

It could even be used as a cover to shield you or your gear from getting wet. It is a very useful accessory to have with you.

The small carry bag fits nicely under the bungees found on most paddle boards.

GREAT PROTECTION

Keeping your board clean is one thing but what I like best about the Landing Mat is that it also protects my board from scratches and damage.

A SUP can always be cleaned but scratches or tears are a little more difficult to deal with.

This mat nicely protects it from sharp objects on the ground, jagged rocks or gravel. It’s like an extra layer of protection when setting up and deflating your SUP.

CORNER POCKETS

There are four corner pockets that can be used to weigh it down and keep it in one spot if using on a hard surface.

LOOPS & STAKES

There are also four corner loops and four yellow plastic stakes to easily secure the mat to the soft ground.

SUMMARY

The design is simple yet very effective. The NIXY landing mat is a must for any paddle boarder.  It is the accessory you don’t realize you need until you have one and then you can’t live without it. 🙂
