NIXY Double Hammock Review

This summer the NIXY hammock has been one of my favourite accessories. The hammock is one of those easy things that you can take literally anywhere with you whether paddling or hiking or camping or just hanging out at the lake.

Sometimes you get these things that look and sound cool but you wonder if you’ll actually ever use them. I will say that I used this hammock a LOT. I used it often at the lake, a couple times while camping and my boyfriend even took it on his bike trips.  It has become a staple in our outdoor adventures.

It rolls up into a very small bag (size 9″ x 7″) that can be stuffed in a backpack, in a dry bag, looped to your PFD, or stored under the bungees on your paddle board.

It’s very convenient and easy to set up and take down. All you need to find are a couple sturdy trees to tie it to and you’re all set for some very comfortable relaxation time in nature.

This hammock is great for those looking to “hang around” and relaxing anywhere mother nature has to offer.

It is ideal for camping, backpacking, hiking, the beach/lake, and even perfect to use in your backyard or on your patio. It is very light and portable to take on any adventure.

Plus it is super easy to assemble with the tree friendly straps, it literally only takes a minute. With this hammock you don’t have to worry about laying on a rough surface or a wet ground.

It safely keeps you off the ground, dry and ultra comfortable.

SIZE

This hammock is a really good size. It is large enough to be used as a double with 2 people or it can comfortably fit one person.

We found that we really didn’t use it as a double even though it could easily fit myself and my partner. We both liked having our own space where we could go to in order to relax so my boyfriend and I would take turns with it.

For us we likely would be happier with two hammocks so we could both have our space to lay down, take a nap, read a book or just zone out.

However if you are so inclined to snuggle up with your partner or friend or even with a child or two, the hammock is certainly large enough and strong enough.

SETUP

Setup is quite easy, there are four simple steps:

1. Unpack the hammock from the bag.
2. Wrap the straps around a sturdy tree branch.
3. Pull the strap through the loop.
4. And then clip it to the carabiner.

Seriously it’s really easy and fast whether setting up or taking it down.

Hammock Dimensions: 9.8 ft (118 in) (300 cm) x 6.5 ft (78 in) (200 cm)

Bag Dimensions: 9 in (23 cm) x 7 in (18 cm) x 3″ (8 cm)

WEGIHT & CONSTRUCTION

The hammock is made of 100% 210T Ripstop Diamond Nylon, which makes it very durable, lightweight and compact.

It is strong enough to hold up to 500 lbs. so no problem loading this hammock right up.

After multiple uses our hammock is still like brand new and I expect it will last a very long time.  It is easy to clean and dry off and super compact and portable.

The total weight is only 31 oz so it is ultra light.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM

With the 10 ft suspension system straps it is easy to loop around tree branches with the 10+1 non stretch loops and secure with the included carabiners.

The sewn loops are heavy duty and durable. When secured to the tree we felt totally safe and secure when using the hammock.

As you can tell from my photos we have the green hammock but it also comes in a blue color so there are a couple of options to choose from.

IN SUMMARY

I love being outdoors. I love spending time in the trees and by the water, that is truly my happy place. I think of the NIXY hammock as my portable relaxation system.

It allows me to relax anywhere comfortably. It keeps me off the ground, which allows me to use it year round and connect with nature even more.

That is a beautiful thing. I can’t imagine anyone not loving this hammock and I highly recommend adding it to your gear bag!
