NIXY 12-Volt 20 PSI Electric Pump Review

The manual hand pumps that come with inflatable stand up paddle boards work quite well but an electric pump makes the process of getting on the water a whole lot easier!

NIXY offers this great electric pump that can inflate your board up to 20 PSI, allowing you to conserve your energy for paddling.

This 12 Volt pump is easy to use, very portable and most importantly it works great.

Power

There are two ways to power this pump.

1. You can either use the 12-V cigarette lighter plug-in.

2. Or you can use the 12-V battery cables and hook it up to your car battery.

To inflate the NIXY Venice Cruisder ISUP, which is 10’6″ long x 34″ wide x 6″ thick, it took us 13 min and 45 seconds to reach 15 PSI.

13 minutes is quite long so I wouldn’t say this pump is fast however we didn’t find the timing too bad as it gave us time to get ourselves ready, get our dogs ready and load up our dry bags before hitting the water.

Hose

The flexible hose is 50” long so a good length to work with making it convenient to pump your board next to your vehicle.

The hose comes with a standard H3 valve attachment that should work on most inflatable SUP’s.

We found it to attach easily to the valve on the board and it stayed secure until the board was fully inflated.

The hose feels solid, doesn’t kink and it doesn’t get hot during inflation as we have found with some other pumps.

Gauge

You can set the gauge to your desired PSI level then press ON. The pump will shut off automatically once it reaches your set air pressure.

Normally you only need to inflate a paddle board up to a maximum of 15 PSI. However we really like that this pump has the ability to inflate up to 20 PSI if wanted.

Many electric pumps go up to a maximum of 14.5 PSI and if you want any higher you’ll need to top up with the hand pump. So the fact that this one goes to 20 is a bonus.

Carry Bag

Besides the fact that this pump works well, one of my favourite features is the carry bag. The bag is better than most that I’ve seen.

The carry bag is large enough to fit everything – the pump, the hose, the alligators clips and cigarette lighter plug-in – but it is still very compact and portable.

It has a removable padded shoulder strap for hands-free carrying and a top handle as well.

The bag is sufficiently padded to protect your pump and all the parts.

It may seem like a small thing but electric pump storage bags are rarely that great and this one is functional, seems to be quite durable and does exactly what it should which is to protect the pump and make it easy to transport and store.

Warranty & Dimensions

The NIXY 12-V Electric Pump has a solid 1-year warranty.

The Dimensions for this pump all packed in the bag are 13″ long x 6″ wide x 6.5″ high.
